What is the shareholder vote?

What it means and how to read it on a deal.

Tracking Alpha

What it is

The target holders' approval of the merger at a meeting.

How to read it

The Vote column shows its status: Pending, Done, Failed or Not required. When the meeting date passes with no result filed yet, it reads Meeting was set for that day, still pending.

A tender offer usually needs no vote: holders approve by tendering, and the minimum tender takes the vote's place.
