Where every fact comes from

  • SEC filingsPrimary source
  • Press releasesDaily web search
  • RegulatorsDaily web search
  • Court docketsDaily web search
  • NewsDaily web search
  • Every fact links to its sourceOpen the filing or page it came from, one click away.
  • A person approves every new dealTwo AI models agree on each fact, or a person decides.
  • Conflicts shown, never hiddenWhen two sources disagree, you see both, side by side.

“Any news?” shouldn't take an evening.

  • The spread

The spread moves, and you can't tell if anything was filed.

  • Checking

You check the company's site, EDGAR, the comment thread and your broker's messages, one deal at a time.

  • Deadlines

The dates that cost money are yours to catch: the tender deadline, the cash or stock election, the conversion window.

  • Your broker

Your broker's cutoff comes days before the official one, and it isn't in any filing.

  • Memory

With several deals open, it all lives in a spreadsheet or in your head.

  • The slip

That works until one detail slips.

Filings and the web, every day. Every deal approved by a person.

  1. Every new filing, every day.

Merger agreements, proxies, tender offer documents, 8-Ks and their amendments, on every live deal.

  2. The web, searched every day.

Company press releases, regulator pages, court dockets and news. Each finding says where it came from.

  3. One record per deal.

A new filing updates it and keeps the history. When two sources disagree, you see both.

  4. A person approves every new deal.

A fact is approved when two AI models agree on it, or by a person. Its quote must be found word for word in the filing. A person decides every disagreement and approves each deal before it goes live.

Then you see it against your last visit: what changed, what's due, and what's still pending, on the deals you hold.

What Tracking Alpha does, and doesn't.

Does

  • Follows the deals you hold

One page per deal, and one screen for all of them.

  • Shows what changed

The old value, the new value and the filing or page it came from.

  • Lists what you need to do, and by when

Tender, election, conversion and vote deadlines, your broker's cutoff included.

  • Reads the filings and searches the web every day

Press releases, regulators, court dockets and news, each labelled by source.

  • Has a person approve every new deal

Before its page goes live. Two AI models must agree on each fact, or a person decides.

Doesn't

  • Send trade ideas

Keep finding deals wherever you do now. Bring the ones you hold here.

  • Race funds to the news

We make sure you don't miss it on the deals you hold, not that you see it first.

  • Score deals or call whether they close

Facts and sources, never a score or a rating.

  • Give investment advice

    You make every decision.

From the builder

The tool I wanted for my own deals

I'm Jera Value. I'm a software engineer and a private investor. I also built findmymoat.com, a directory of investing tools.

I tried to do this by hand. I spent many hours on manual work: reading filings, copying terms into spreadsheets, checking dates and looking for news on every deal I held.

Merger arbitrage is a small niche, and an underserved one. But the technology has come a long way, and today it can do very powerful things. So I started building a tool for my own workflow.

The plan is to start narrow: build the perfect workflow for one kind of special situation, merger arbitrage, in its most specific form, US deals paid in cash. Then expand to the next one, step by step.

I'm building it in public, posting as @jera_value, and shaping it with your feedback. My goal is to make it the best tool for special situations investors.

US merger arb first. More to come.

Not planned: rumors and strategic reviews. They aren't in the filings, so we would be guessing.

Accuracy credit

If a fact on a deal you hold is wrong, or a change that was in a filing is missing by the end of the next business day, you get a free month.

Facts and sources, never advice. You make every decision.

What you should know

Is this investment advice?

No. Tracking Alpha shows what the filings and other sources say and what changed. It never tells you what to buy, sell or hold.

Do you send trade ideas?

No. There are good places for ideas. This is for the deals you already hold.

Where does the information come from?

Every day we read the new filings on every live deal and search the web for it: company press releases, regulator pages, court dockets and news. Every fact is labelled with its source. Filings come first, and when another source disagrees with a filing, you see both.

Is it real-time?

No. Every deal is checked every day, and we don't compete on speed. The point is that nothing on your deals slips past you.

Is it AI?

We use software to read the filings and search the web. A fact is approved when two AI models agree on it, or by a person. Its quote must be found word for word in the filing. A person decides every disagreement and approves each deal before it goes live. Every fact links to its source. If something is wrong, you can see it and tell us.

Do I need to connect my broker?

No. You add the deals you hold by ticker. Your broker's cutoff is a date you can add yourself, since brokers don't publish them in the filings.

Which deals are covered?

At launch, US-listed targets in cash deals, including tender offers and small caps. Stock and mixed deals come next.

How does the launch price work?

The first 20 members get $20 a month or $200 a year, and keep it. After that, the price for new members is $29 a month or $290 a year. Waitlist members hear first.

When does it open?

We're building it now. Waitlist members hear first.

What will you do with my email?

Email you when it opens, with your launch price. Nothing else unless you ask.
